Build Confidence On Road

 

This course is taught to National Standards Level 2

(equivalent of Bikeability Level 2),

taking riders out onto quiet roads and building confidence and understanding of the rules of the road.

Overview

  • Your child is taught by a qualified instructor 1:1 or 1:2

  • Lessons are taught on quiet roads with simple junctions

  • The course is 2 - 2.5 hours, which includes a short break

Requirements

  • A bike in working order, comfortable clothing, sensible footwear and a helmet

  • We can supply a lightweight bike and a helmet for your child to use (by prior arrangement)

  • This course is aimed at riders aged 9 or above who have previously completed either a Junior Pedallers Bronze, National Standards Level 1 or Bikeability Level 1 course

  • Riders who have not completed one of these courses should attend a Junior Pedallers Ruby course instead.

Outcomes

By attending a Junior Pedallers Silver course, your child should be able to:

  • Prepare themselves for cycling on the road

  • Start and finish an on road journey, including passing parked or slower moving vehicles and side roads

  • Recognise typical hazards

  • Signal intentions to other road users

  • Know where to ride on the road and how to share the road 

  • Be able to navigate junctions, turning left and right into major and minor roads

  • Comply with signals, signs and road markings

Cost

  • £50 per child (course with 2 riders) or £75 (1:1 coaching)

  • Courses can be arranged for small groups up to 6 riders - price will vary depending on number of children and location
