Build Confidence On Road

 

This course is taught to National Standards Level 2, taking riders out onto quiet roads and building confidence and understanding of the rules of the road.

Overview

  • Your child is taught by a qualified instructor 1:1 or in small groups (maximum 6)

  • The course is between 2 and 6 hours, depending on group size

  • Longer courses will be split across two separate days

  • Lessons are taught on quiet roads with simple junctions

Requirements

  • A bike in working order, comfortable clothing, sensible footwear and a helmet

  • We can supply a lightweight bike and a helmet for your child to use (by prior arrangement)

  • This course is aimed at riders aged 9 or above who have previously completed either a Junior Pedallers Bronze, National Standards Level 1 or Bikeability Level 1 course

  • Riders who have not completed one of these courses should attend a Junior Pedallers Ruby course instead.

Outcomes

By attending a Junior Pedallers Silver course, your child should be able to:

  • Prepare themselves for cycling on the road

  • Start and finish an on road journey, including passing parked or slower moving vehicles and side roads

  • Recognise typical hazards

  • Signal intentions to other road users

  • Know where to ride on the road and how to share the road 

  • Be able to navigate junctions, turning left and right into major and minor roads

  • Comply with signals, signs and road markings

Cost

  • £75 per child (1:1 - 2 hours)

  • £50 per child (course with 2 riders - 2 hours)

  • £60 per child (course with 3 riders - 4 hours)

  • £55 per child (course with 4 riders - 5 hours)

  • £50 per child (course with 5-6 riders - 6 hours)
