ABOUT

My name is Jon Porteous and I've been cycling for as long as I can remember. I've been riding road bikes for over 35 years and mountain bikes for over 25 years, so it's fair to say it's more than a 5 minute hobby!
For 10 years I lived in Jersey, Channel Islands, where there is an abundance of cycle shops for an island of only 45 square miles. In 2016, I moved back to the UK (and Bicester specifically), where I realised that there aren't many places to get my bikes serviced or repaired. Once you do find somewhere, it's then difficult to book in your bike at a convenient time. So, in 2018, JP Cycle Services was born.
Cytech is the internationally recognised training and accreditation scheme for bicycle mechanics - I hold Cytech qualifications to the level of Cytech Technician. I regularly update my training to keep up to date with the developments in the industry.
I not only offer my services as a mobile bicycle mechanic in the local area, but I also offer private cycle coaching, Bikeability training in schools and Dr Bike sessions, with guided rides coming in the autumn of 2021.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, Safeguarding, First Aid and full public liability insurance.
I hold the qualifications of:
-
Cyctech Technican (Technical Level 2)
-
Cytech Electronic Gear Systems (Level 3)
