My name is Jon Porteous and I've been cycling for as long as I can remember.  I've been riding road bikes for over 35 years and mountain bikes for over 25 years, so it's fair to say it's more than a 5 minute hobby!

I lived in Jersey, Channel Islands, where there is an abundance of cycle shops for an island of only 45 square miles.  In 2016, I moved back to the UK (and Bicester specifically) where I realised that there aren't many places to get my bikes serviced or repaired.  Once you do find somewhere, it's then difficult to book in your bike at a convenient time.

I initially completed the industry repair standard of Cytech Technician in order to formalise my self-training and as a result of a change in my personal circumstances, am now able to offer my services as a mobile bicycle mechanic in the local area.

I'm currently studying for the British Cycling Ride Leader Mountain Bike Level 2 (what a mouthful!) which will allow me to organise and lead guided mountain bike rides.  I also hold the qualifications of:

  • British Cycling Coach Level 2

  • British Cycling Mountain Bike Coach Level 2

  • Personal Trainer (REPS Level 3)

  • ISRM Sport & Remedial Massage (Level 3)
