TERMS & CONDITIONS
General
JP Cycle Services is the trading name of Jon Porteous, owner and Cytech Master Technician qualified mechanic and British Cycling Level 2, Bikeability and National Standards qualified coach/instructor.

The services that JP Cycle Services offer are mobile bicycle servicing, bicycle repairs, bike builds and bike upgrades ("Mechanic Services") and cycle coaching for children and adults ("Coaching Services"). Mechanic services are generally provided at a customer's home, workplace or a location specified by the customer - if repairs cannot be carried out in any of these locations for any reason, the bike will be taken back to our workshop in Ambrosden and returned to the customer once the agreed work has been completed. Coaching services are delivered in specific locations which are clearly documented in the online service description and booking form.

MECHANIC SERVICES

Quotations
JP Cycle Services does not provide an online booking facility for mechanic services. These services can be arranged by you contacting us via telephone, email, text message or the 'Contact Us' submission form on this website.

We offer a free of charge, no obligation quotation service, where we will either request photographs of the bike to be sent to us or we will come and have a look at the bike and provide a top level estimate of the cost for the requested mechanic services. If you decide to go ahead with the work, we will perform a more detailed inspection of the bike to provide you with a work estimate and make a booking. No work will take place until you have confirmed you are in agreement with this work estimate.

Bookings
If you decide to reschedule or cancel a booking, we politely request 48 hours notice. We reserve the right to charge a deposit equivalent to our minimum charge for bookings that have been previously cancelled without notice.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel and reschedule a booking, we will give you a minimum of 48 hours notice unless the reason is an emergency situation out of our control. We will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for the revised booking.

We politely ask that your bike is brought to us in a reasonable condition to be worked on - if the bike is excessively mucky, a dirty bike surcharge will be applied so that we can remove the excess dirt prior to carrying out the mechanic services requested.

As a small workshop, we only stock commonly used parts. Due to the thousands of different components used in the bike industry, we are likely to need to order parts required for your bike. If we know this in advance, we will order the parts prior to the booking date, however if we need to order parts once we have started the mechanic services on your bike, this may lead to a delay in your bike being completed. We will keep you informed should this be the case.

If we replace any parts on your bike, you are welcome to inspect them up to the point that your bike is handed back to you. We will dispose of the parts in an environmentally responsible manner using recycling schemes that are in operation locally and nationally.

Occasionally while fixing a problem on your bike we may uncover another mechanical problem. If this is likely to lead to an increase in cost of labour or parts, we will contact you to get your approval to continue, before incurring any further costs to you.

All bikes that are serviced or repaired are test ridden by the mechanic who has carried out the work to ensure the bike operates and performs correctly out of the stand.

Invoices and Payments
If we require a deposit or prepayment for the work estimate, this will be clearly stated and will need to be paid prior to your booking.

After the work has been completed on your bike, we will provide you with a detailed invoice to an email address provided by you. A paper copy can be provided on request. This invoice is payable by return and can be paid by cash, bank transfer to the bank account detailed on the invoice or by debit/credit card using the online payment link provided on the invoice email.

Warranty and Guarantee
JP Cycle Services guarantee their mechanic services with a common sense guarantee - if there is anything you are unhappy about, please let us know as soon as possible and we will work with you to resolve the matter. Whilst we guarantee our work for 30 days, as part of our common sense guarantee, we cannot be held responsible for any issues arising from inappropriate use, abnormal wear and tear, neglect (lack of care and maintenance), amendments or modifications after our work has been completed.

All parts supplied and fitted by JP Cycle Services are subject to the relevant manufacturer warranty terms of inspection and return. Any returns postage and packaging costs are chargeable to you. If the labour costs associated with the parts guarantee cannot be recovered from the manufacturer, you may be liable for these costs.

We do not offer any guarantee on parts supplied by the customer for fitting. The mechanic reserves the right not to fit parts that are not compatible and the right to charge a minimum fee where parts have been supplied incorrectly and work cannot be carried out on the day.

COACHING SERVICES

Bookings
All coaching bookings are made via the Book Online section of our website. We require certain information from you at the point of booking, all of which is subject to our Privacy Policy. All coaching services require payment in full when the booking is made. You will receive a confirmation email when you make a coaching booking. If you do not receive this, please check your spam box or let us know and we will send you a copy.
The total cost you pay includes hiring the venue for the coaching service. As we use several venues, please refer to your booking email for the correct venue for the coaching you have booked.

Preparation
It is your responsibility to have a roadworthy bike for the coaching session that is an appropriate size for the child or adult attending the coaching session. Whilst the instructor can make minor adjustments to the bike at the start of a session, a non-roadworthy bike will not be accepted on the course and your coaching place is non-refundable or transferrable.

For some coaching sessions, we offer the use of one of our fleet of training bikes, which will be detailed on the booking form. If you wish to use a training bike and/or helmet, please indicate this on your booking form.

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian of a child aged under 18 to provide a well fitted helmet. We will not accept a child onto our coaching sessions if they are not wearing an appropriate cycling helmet. If the trainee sustains injuries through lack of an appropriate helmet, JP Cycle Services accepts no responsibility for this.

On The Day
As most of our coaching sessions are held outside, we are at the mercy of the weather! If the weather is extreme on the day, the session will be cancelled around 1 hour before it is due to start and the session will be rearranged. Each attendee will be contacted in the event of a cancellation. The session will continue in light rain or showers. The child or adult attending a coaching session should be appropriately dressed for the weather conditions on the day, including appropriate footwear such as lace up or bucked well fitting shoes or trainers. Wellington boots, slip on fur boots, slip on shoes, sandals, flip flops and sliders are not considered to be appropriate footwear.

We will contact you within 48 hours of a cancellation to arrange for you to move to another date or have a full refund of your session fee. If the cancelled coaching session forms part of a coaching programme and you choose a refund for the cancelled session, your refund will be a pro-rata amount.

The instructor has the right to withhold training at any point if they deem the behaviour or competence level of the trainee to be unsuitable or the clothing or footwear to be inappropriate.

Elements of coaching sessions may use ramps, kickers, rollers, limbo poles or skinny sets. All equipment used will be risk assessed. Use of the equipment during the session is not compulsory.

JP Cycle Services is not liable for any injury, loss or damage to person’s property during, before or after the training.

Cancellations
You have the right to cancel your booking at any time subject to the following terms:
-
Any coaching session cancelled after booking is subject to a non-refundable admin fee of £15 (or the cost of the session if less than £15). Cancellations are accepted up to 5 days before the course date.
-
You are not eligible for any refund if you make a request for a cancellation less than 5 days before the lesson date or course starting date.
-
You are not eligible for any refund if you do not complete or attend all sessions of a course.
-
JP Cycle Services reserves the right to cancel a course if number of delegates have not reached the minimum required to run the course effectively. We also reserve the right to cancel in the event of an unforeseen circumstance which prevents a safe training environment. In the event of a cancellation, JP Cycle Services will either arrange for an alternative session date(s) or offer a full refund of the unused course fee paid.
